That’s very well said, and I’m glad that someone has said it. Virtual life isn’t a replacement for real life. Although Substack is a very welcome discovery, and the discussions here are wide-ranging and fascinating, they inform real life, they don’t replace it. Substack is also rare in that it’s users are intelligent and informed. Switching off, or toning down online life makes you appreciate both that and real life more.
Yes exactly I feel technology is only meant to supplement life not replace it!! The whole immersive virtual reality thing, replacing cashiers and phone operators with robots, people living for social media its very unnatural and is making reality-life feel very......... adulterated if that makes sense
I wish I had the willpower for the flip phone switch. I salute you for your bravery.
I think i might join you on this flip phone switch!
The *CLAT* is sending me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣😭 like smart phone would never be able to give that theatrical effect

It makes total sense. I always refuse to use those automatic checkouts in the supermarket - I want a real person to have a job.
