No, I never get tired of talking about racism.
Why would I? Do you ever get tired of seeing, ignoring and perpetuating racism and antiblackness? Oh...
“I’m tired of logging onto Twitter and seeing discussions about race.”
If I was to get on the internet and say “I’m tired of logging into Twitter and seeing discussions about Palestine.”
maybe then you all will see how ignorant you sound… or maybe you still won’t.
Not everything needs to be said out loud to an audience, have some damn shame (and a close, intimate group of friends).
“I’m tired of seeing discussions about race.”
Why and how are you tired of conversations that you’re not even engaging in or leading like???
In my humble opinion (and experience) the only people who get tired of talking about racism are:
Racists
Light skins (who don’t like acknowledging their privilege and think they have it just as hard as their darker counterparts, despite being proven otherwise).
Self hating Black people who hate being reminded that they are indeed black and thus will always be perceived as such no matter what (no profession, or respectability politics will save, nor shield you from white supremacy).
Confused biracial people (Aren’t perceived as black (by anyone), but pulls out family pictures to defend their use of the N word)
One drop rule warriors (“we’re all niggas to white people”)
People who want to pretend the pinnacle of our oppression and suffering (as a collective) isn’t solely because of our skin color and how we look/present. Some people hate being reminded that they are indeed Black. (not all of us have the luxury to walk around feigning ignorance even if just for a moment.)
Let me know if I missed one.
People love to make it seem like and push a narrative that people who constantly speak on and point out racism (especially antiblackness) do so cause they’re unattractive, jealous or whatever other superficial bullshit they can come up with in an attempt to discredit a Black person making a valid (study/evidence backed) critique. & Honestly so what if they’re “ugly”, miserable and or jealous?? A fact is a fact and nothing can negate that. They try and weaponize beauty so quick (beauty that reflects Eurocentric standards mind you), often ignorant to the fact that they’re just proving the point being made. It’s like they don’t see them as humans who are simply voicing their everyday lived experience (there’s a long history of Black people not being seen as human), but instead just Blacks being difficult.

I am unquestionably Black 24/7, everywhere I go. I’m black in America. I’m Black in the Dominican Republic and if I went to Africa my race would still be perceived as such, no questions would be asked, EVER. I love being Black and in a perfect world the color of my skin would not matter or dictate my treatment. However a perfect world is not our reality.
So, with that being said why would I ever get tired of conversations about one of the very things that dictates not only my quality of life, but millions of other people around the world life as well? The thing that determines whether you’re eligible for empathy or not and how you should be treated within society.
What you should be tired of is society and government entities giving us shit (a society that operates by implementing and protecting racist, discriminatory and anti-black laws, practices and rhetoric) to talk about.
What I am tired of is everyone ignoring the damn elephant in the room, and when it’s addressed the huffing and puffing that it’s met with. No I can’t turn my mind off and be ignorant to my reality (I am a brown skin, unambiguous (monoracial) Black woman. I am perceived as such, thus treated as such), and even if I could why the fuck would I? Imagine the myriads of Black people who come in shades far darker than mines, are they afforded the luxury of feigning ignorance to a racist reality?
“What good comes from crying about it?”
What good comes from suffering in silence, and being quiet about it?
“At what point is it okay to say you’re tired of the conversation?”
Poor you! You’re tired of a conversation meanwhile Black people around the world (especially in the global South) are tired of being slaves to your countries capitalistic self serving interests and desires.
“I deserve to not have to think about it every second of my life.”
& When you create that world……. You please let me know! I’d love to come, however until then the reality remains….. (also that world won’t be created unless the conversations (that you’re so tired of seeing take place) is had)
I don’t give a fuck about (protecting) the comfort and the bliss afforded to the majority (and to Black people in proximity to Whiteness) by living in oblivion and feigning ignorance.
You guys want to peacefully live in ignorance, ignoring the atrocities of the world. Atrocities being committed by your very own government. Unfortunately, for you are not owed that.
I can acknowledge that things may seem repetitive, but that doesn’t bother me at all. If people understood the first time there would be no need to repeat right? So, here we are. The anger and dissatisfactory is always placed on the wrong people and things. Acknowledgement, conversation and education is the first (and most important) step towards an awakening. Like damn, y’all would’ve got “tired” of the abolitionists constantly talking and leading conversations about how the practice of slavery was inhumane and detrimental to Africans everywhere and needs to be abolished. Shameful. No true change will materialize without education (as well as mobilization) and it’s clear people are not doing the reading to even figure that part out.
Long story short….. Idk, suck it up…
I’m not looking to (nor do I want to) bash anybody personally, but honestly really suck it up. Like, think outside of yourself for once. You’re in America, with access to the internet and crying about your right to “peace” (peace from conversations about racism taking place, mind you). Whole time it’s Black children mining for the materials that’s used to make the very device that you’re complaining on right now. Black people in America make up 13% of the population, yet fill up a disproportionate amount of the jail and prison population. You have children in (South) Asia, living and working in inhuman conditions so that you can do your little clothing hauls or indulge in the content... Like…
“Kim, there’s people that’s dying.”
I don’t partake in oppression Olympics, but I mean……
Please be for real.
As I said "Never take your foot off of their necks" EVAAAAA!! I just love your writing voice because for every ignorant question you had a great comeback 😂
Precious… I don’t know about you, but I personally was raised to always treat people the way I would want them to treat me, REGARDLESS of their race, gender, religious beliefs, disabilities, etc. The only topics of discussion that I don’t discuss with people are religion & politics as going on past experiences, they are the big 2 that have always started arguments & full blown fights at family gatherings & public places.
…I’m often classed as “racist” because of the fact that most of my friends are from countries other than my own (I’m Caucasian, from Australia). Just to mess with those clueless people, I like saying “I’m not racist… I hate everyone equally” (I don’t really, but it’s fun watching their reactions 😂). If people treat me with respect, they’ll get equal levels of respect paid back to them. If they treat me like crap… Well, let’s just say they’ll “get the shit showered back” onto them. Take care & all the best… From Australia 🇦🇺✌️😂🇦🇺
