Things your plastic surgeon/injector won't tell you.
"I have these wrinkles whenever I make this face." Well, just stop making that face.
A woman’s insecurity (or insecurities) is a billion (if not trillion) dollar industry. Inadequate, buttscratching men packaging exaggerated, unrealistic, anatomy defying idea of what a women should look like and selling it to women. Reaping in benefits, not just monetary, but psychological as well.
Some women (for various reasons) aren’t buying it. Some women (for various reasons) spend some money (and time) trying to embody and recreate this illusion of a women men (and colonization) have created.
A lot of times as a woman you’re damned if you do, and you’re damned if you don’t.
Whatever your choice is I won’t see you as anyless. No judgement, it’s a spectrum and we all participate to different degrees. Choose whatever makes your heart content, I just hope you choose informed and with intent. So, here’s some things that your surgeon probably won’t tell you.
1. Your filler isn’t just gonna magically disintegrate and metabolize/dissolve after 6-18 months.
Whew, this is a big one! Okay, don’t put my head on a stake just YET! YES, I know what they told you, and YES I know how science says it supposed to go in theory… HOWEVER, in practice……… The proof is in the pudding honey.
While hyaluronic acid is a part of every cell and tissue in your body, 50% of it is found in your skin (dermis) locking moisture into the skin, giving a youthful appearance. The other 50% can be found it the body helping to keep cartilage in the joints strong and flexible, lubricating joints, delivering nutrients to cells, and disposing of toxins from cells. There are a couple of things that deplete the amount of hyaluronic acid we naturally produce:
- the decreasing of estrogen and testosterone hormones as you age
-exposure to the sun
-diet
So, that is how the hyaluronic acid we naturally produce is naturally used and how it is naturally depleted…….
Hyaluronic is known the attract water and hold up to 1000 x its weight. When you first get that first stick, you definitely see a difference that you 9/10 will love. The doctor, of course tells you “there’s minor swelling present so the volume will slightly decrease and you’ll be very pleased with your end results (if youre not already pleased)”. The doctor also goes on to say the self life will be about 6-18 months as the hyaluronic acid-based injection will begin to dissolve. However that is not the enitre truth. Filler doesnt just magically dissolve and is gone without a trace (if that was the case hyaluronidase (used off label for dissolving filler) wouldn’t be more popular for its cosmetic use, than its original intended purpose). (However common sense is not that common so) Not only that, but the presence of filler has been detected via MRI scans even 2-12 years after (the last) injection! Truth is, filler spreads and migrate. So, some of the filler will migrate from the original injection site. If you pay close attention to your face (i’m very vain, so I notice) you’ll not only notice a loss of volume in the area you originally had treated, but you may notice more puffiness and volume (than you used to have) in a new area. However, if you’re under the impression that filler dissovles on its own every 6 months or so, you will go back to re-treat (touch up) the same area adding more filler on top of remnants filler from the previous sessions. Before you know it you look…… quite different. Frequent and long-term filler use can result in irreparable irregularities within the facial tissues. Remember hyaluronic acid holds up to 1000x its weight and that weight tends to add up quickly session after session, causing heaviness in the face (also resulting of stretching of skin to accomodate new volume) and ultimately aging you (which is what most women are in there trying to fight).
2. Tear trough fillers are a waste of money. Doctors are basically blindly injecting on top of a ligament.
“blindly injecting” noone wants to hear that! So they don’t say it. Tear troughs are one of the most popular filler sites, and yeild the most inconsistent results. Tear troughs are the hollows beneath the eyes. The immediate result you get and see after a tear trough filler, is not a true result (again swelling will be present), so it’s hard for the injector to acuratley predict whether enough has been injected or whether they put too much. Not only that, but there’s no camera on the needle. The eye area s such a delicate, thin and hollow area that requires precision and how can you execute precision if you cannot see (or gauge) how deep the needle is? Dr. Galvin is pretty candid about this with his youtube video.
3. Getting venners in your 20’s is stupid
You have the rest of your life ahead of you and you choose live it toothless, with potential, and completely avoidable, agonizing pain and complications that even money can’t fix? I don’t even need to go into this as many horror stories we see every other day about this. The girl from Bad Girls Club Winter crying on Instagram bout how she in so much pain and regrets getting veneers (Mhmm God don’t like ugly). Cile, you will need dentures one day, why the hell would you want to expedite that?
4. Your happiness and satisfaction when leaving my office, is far more important than your satisfaction in the long run.
Listen, if you’re rich, or born into it you are not really my intended audience. If you have the money to get procedures on a whim and pay for them in full, you of course have the money to afford a surgeon who places efforts beyond monetary gain, but quality, and longevity of relationships as well. However, a decent amount of everyday women are saving up, and making payments just to see a subpar, “good enough” surgeon. A surgeon that doesn’t really care if you come back after getting their “before and after” pictures. A surgeon that doesn’t care to correct any deficiencies that may later arise due to a lack of quality (whether in technique, procedure, or materials used) on their end. If a surgeon is telling you everything you want to hear be very suspicious.
5. You are delusional demonstrating signs and symptoms of body dismorphia. You need therapy, not surgery.
Perfect does not exist. Doing all this tweaking to achieve a non existent, unattaiable idea. The reality is you will never be satisfied, because you will never be perfect, because perfect does not exist.
Now beautification may end with surgery, but it certainly does not start there…..
(& i’d hate to just single out one and not the others)
1. You are facetuning you face into oblivion, your face literally looks 2D.
Very airbrushed to the point where your nose bridge is non existant and your entire face is the same level as your eyelids. Not one crook or curve to show dimension. Please……
2. Eyelash extentions are a waste of time and money (unless even if you’re monetizing off your looks)
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but It’s okay to wake up looking like a human not wearing makeup.
I know. It’s okay go ahead and take a minute to pause if need be.
The way these $120+ lashes start to fall off the minute you make it home. Not to mention they don’t even start to look good until they start falling out cause theyre (in my opinion) overfilled. I must admit, I might have a personal vendetta, because no lashes should ever come between me and my skincare.
3. On Instagram lace may melt. In real life however, a lacefront wig will look like a lacefront wig.
& there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Honestly, one you accept this fact you will feel free (free like the Black girls who date white men are IYKYK).
4. The gym will NOT give you hips.
ACCEPT IT SISTERS! Stop letting these “fitness” influencers scam yall! Havent taken one nutrition course but selling diet plans, aye yall mad?! What happened to discretion? No matter the weight of a person, whether they have hips or not will be apparent (bigger women, and slimmer women both capable of having hip dips (aka no hips). If you see a girl that has had hip dips throughout her life, including during her early workout journey and after 6 months or so, they come out with a set of hips…… Those were purchased, sweetie. Exercises do lift, grow, and firm the glute muscle. Exercises however don’t grow your hips horizontally.
Side note: Stop putting facial slimming, skin lightening filters on these damn babies!! My god they don’t stand a chance psychologically with parents like yall. Giving pedophiles children to sexualize. Don’t even post the baby if you feel like they need a filter.
you gotta look up jeff besos girlfriend, not a bad looking woman but her cosmetic surgery isnt looking well.
